We will join with the whole Uniting Church in Qld for worship this Sunday, 19 April.

Hello!

How is everyone going? Are you adapting to our “new normal”? As someone who is in a rather privileged situation of still having work and thankfully not having any family members with ill-health, I’m enjoying some elements of the isolation, like having time to catch up on things, but I’m also finding it a bit difficult not being able to have face-to-face conversations with people. Zoom is proving to be a good substitute for this, but I am looking forward to being all back together again, hopefully soon! Please do get in touch with us if there is anything at all you need; we would love to be able to help. PACT (the Prayer And Care Team, one arm of Care & Connect) are continuing to meet fortnightly to pray for and organise support for individuals within the TUC congregation and from the community. It is wonderful to see so many other people get involved with this, too. We’ve had various people help out PACT by dropping around cards and groceries, visiting people to provide company, cooking and baking for people and just generally offering their services. As Dianne said in her message during the service last Sunday, it is like a giant web of connectedness! We know that it is only because of God and His Spirit at work in us that we can do these things, so we give thanks that God has grown this community to be an expression of His love. Let’s keep praying that we are able to keep sharing this with each other and with the wider community.

Instead of our usual TUC worship service, this Sunday (19 April, 2020) we will join with the whole Uniting Church in Australia, Queensland Synod for worship.

We will stream this live at 9.30 am on Sunday from the TUC YouTube channel. Please head here to go to the live-stream. We will still be able to connect with each other in the comments as usual.

This service is led by our Moderator, Rev David Baker, supported by Rev Mark Cornford, Janelle van de Velde, Rev Keren Seto and Ben Rogers. The service is about 23 minutes long and includes prayers, a reading from John 20:19-31, a short reflection on that reading, music and some prayers for the world. You can also access the service on the Synod website.

Next Sunday, 26 April, we will have our regular TUC worship service.

Youth Alpha Online

7 - 8 pm Fridays

Senior Youth are running Youth Alpha starting this Friday 17 April from 7 - 8 pm on Zoom. If you're a High School student in Grades 9-12, Youth Alpha is for you. Email Clare for more details.

During the Covid-19 pandemic many of us are fearful and anxious about our futures. Maybe you are asking questions that you thought you'd never ask about the meaning of life. Alpha is a safe place where you can ask these important questions and seek answers with a group of thoughtful young people. Come and wrestle with the big questions as we explore what it means to believe in God.
